Description
The 17th century Wazir Khan mosque is located in the busiest market area of the walled city. A bazaar in the form of a transept containing the east gate entrance recalls mosques of central Asia. Brick was used as a facing and this was highlighted in the restoration work by cement jointing. Also distinct are the four imposing minarets at the corners of the internal court, each surmounted by bell-shaped domes. Stalactite decoration is prevalent in the domes and the restoration work preserving the mosaic and fresco decorations necessitated the revival of the manufacture of enamelled tiles. interior, fresco work and stalactite work in the northeast minaret, 1988
