dc.description18th century engraving of the "Air-Ship" proposed by Francesco Lana Terzi (1631-1687) in his 1670 "Prodromo." The design features a boat attached to a sail, lifted by air pumped from four thin evacuated copper globes. Three men are in the ship, one carries an oar with which to steer. Published in The European Magazine, March 1, 1789.en_US
