The simple cell, for example, at Linjan near Isfahan, Iran, where the Sufi shaykh Pir-i Bakran lived and taught, was transformed after his death in 1303 into a shrine by the addition of an entrance corridor and an iwan.Single, monumental, blocked-up iwan in cemetery. Elaborate carved stucco (in the bevelled Samarran style), tile mosaic and brickwork.The Pir-i Bakran at Linjan, 30 km south-west of Isfahan, is the tomb of the shaykh Muhammad ibn Bakran (d 1303); adjacent to the tomb is a single iwan with extraordinary decoration in carved stucco.
