Description
Born in Baghdad in 1914, Mohamed Makiya studied architecture in England (BS 1941, MS 1942 and Ph.D. from King's College, Cambridge in 1946). He became the director of Iraqi municipalities between 1947 and 1953; he founded and served as the chairman of its department of architecture between 1959 and 1968. He has prominent works of contemporary architecture in Iraq and throughout the Arab world. Source: Archnet
