Portman turned the corridor hotel inside-out to create what he called ‘oases within the city’. Portman also introduced the use of cylindrical forms for hotel room towers; examples include the Hyatt Regency Hotel (1971) at O’Hare airport in Chicago, the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel (1976), Atlanta, GA, the Renaissance Center Hotel (1976), Detroit, MI, and the Bonaventure Hotel (1977), Los Angeles, CA.
