Description
Abadin Tadia Tjoessoep, more commonly known as Sheikh Yusuf was born in Indonesia and exiled to the Cape of Good Hope in in 1693. He is credited by many with establishing the first Islamic community in South Africa. When he died in 1699 he was buried on a hill overlooking Macassar at Zandvlei, Faure.
