dc.description | Ancestral parish of Grace Cathedral was Grace Church, founded 1849. Third church was destroyed in the fire after 1906 earthquake. Standing cathedral took the name of a nearby parish, was eventually built (1928 -) on land given by Crocker family, from their Nob Hill estate ruined in 1906 earthquake and fire.
