dc.description | The 17th century Wazir Khan mosque is located in the busiest market area of the walled city. A bazaar in the form of a transept containing the east gate entrance recalls mosques of central Asia. Brick was used as a facing and this was highlighted in the restoration work by cement jointing. Also distinct are the four imposing minarets at the corners of the internal court, each surmounted by bell-shaped domes. Stalactite decoration is prevalent in the domes and the restoration work preserving the mosaic and fresco decorations necessitated the revival of the manufacture of enamelled tiles. | en_US |
