To be found in the Institute de France, in Paris. Two cardboard-bound paper manuscripts (measuring 24 x 19 cm). Originally part of Codex A, from which they were torn in the nineteenth century. Conventionally identified as number 2037 (former Codex B) and number 2038 (former Codex A). These collections mainly contain pictorial studies (Ash. 2038) and assorted drawings (Ash. 2037), which Leonardo in all likelihood drew between 1489 and 1492. (http://www.museoscienza.org/english/leonardo/manoscritti.html) "Leonardo showed little interest in plans in the shape of a simple Greek cross or in crosses inscribed within a square, but was more interested in two less common types he may have seen in Milan: the inscribed cross with projecting apses and the tetraconch with ambulatories. Leonardo used the first type several times, without alteration, for churches as is seen in the present work." ("Leonardo da Vinci: Engineer and Architect", p. 234)en_US
