Description
Article about André-Jacques Garnerin's parachute design with his account of the first manned parachute ascent in England, made from the Parade Ground of the St. George's Volunteers, Grosvenor Square, on September 21, 1802. Includes an abbreviated version of Garnerin's account of the event. An accompanying illustration shows Garnerin's parachute in the various stages of the ascent and descent.
