Lithograph showing Hugh Bell's Locomotive Balloon, designed to test the usefulness of propellers for dirigible flight. Two men in the carriage are using attached wings and a rudder to steer the balloon. The first public trial of this airship was in July, 1850 from Vauxhall Gardens.
