The images in this collection were a gift of Leon Hyzen who graduated from MIT with a B.A. in 1933, and an M.A. in 1936 from the School of Architecture. Hyzen took these photographs while travelling in Europe and the Middle East after winning a Rotch Travelling Scholarship. The images document his travels in France, Germany, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Syria and Egypt. The collection also notable for containing many images of the 1937 Paris Expo, the International Exposition Dedicated to Art and Technology in Modern Life, as well as The Day of German Art, held on July 18, 1937 in Munich.
