Outhouse; Located on the Vermilion River in south central Louisiana; exiled Acadians from Nova Scotia were early settlers, the economy was based on sugar cane, cotton and corn until WW II. The park is one of the world's largest physical representations of an early Acadian settlement using original structures dating from 1767 to 1890, including seven restored original homes sitting on a 23-acre site housing local artisans demonstrating a variety of essential crafts performed by the early settlers. The Park also educates about Cajun, Creole and Native American cultures.
