dc.description | Detail of window with arch detail and red wooden shutters; Former city-arsenal building at the Singel in Amsterdam, which later served as the royal stables. The facade was designed by Hendrick de Keyser, 1606-1609. In 1940 the building became part of the Amsterdam University Library (Universiteitsbibliotheek Amsterdam) next to it, by written permission of the then-exiled Queen Wilhelmina. It is next door to the Handboogdoelen (former home of the Longbow Archers Militia). Source: Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page (accessed 4/30/2015) | en_US |
