| dc.description | One of the hills west of the river; The city was known as Chicacole before Indian Independence. As of 2011 Census of India, the city had a population of 126,003. The Temple of Sun God is located at Arasavalli, 2 kilometers away from the town; it is the only Sun God temple in Southern India and was constructed by a Kalinga dynasty king. The Sri Kurman village and temple is 13 km east of the town in Srikakulam district. The Sri Kurmam temple is dedicated to Sri Kurmanatha, which is the second avatar of Lord Vishnu, Kurma Avatar (Tortoise).
