Slums with bicycle rickshaw out front; Visakhapatnam (nicknamed Vizag) is the largest city, both in terms of area and population in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The city has the only protected harbor on Coromandel Coast; exports sugar, manganese, ore, and peanuts, and is a major shipbuilding center. It is the headquarters for the Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy. As of 2011, the population of the city was recorded as 1,897,823, making it 15th largest city in India.
