| dc.description | Interior, nave with wood ceiling, apse with main altar; A Roman Catholic (Latin Rite) minor basilica in Santhome. It was first built in the 16th century (1523) by Portuguese explorers, over the tomb of St Thomas. As per tradition, the apostle landed in Muziris (in Kerala) in 52 CE, was martyred in 72 CE at St. Thomas Mount in the city, and was interred in Mylapore.
