As per tradition, the apostle landed in Muziris (in Kerala) in 52 CE, was martyred in 72 CE at St. Thomas Mount in the city, and was interred in Mylapore. In 1893, it was rebuilt as a church with the status of a cathedral by the British. Source: Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page (accessed 8/25/2015)
