dc.description | East side of building with parking spaces and the part of the quotation "arrivé à ce qui commence", seen from Avenue Henri-Julien; The music conservatory, drama conservatory and school of public administration (École nationale d’administration publique) were pre-existing at their current location at 4750 avenue Henri-Julien. A major fire on December 7, 2005 seriously damaged the conservatory's facilities. The Government of Quebec restored the facilities at a cost of 46 million dollars; the architects for the restoration and revamp were Saia, Barbarese, Topouzanov architectes. In addition to practice rooms, classrooms and rehearsal halls, the conservatory contains 85 teaching studios, a 225 seat theater, a concert hall of 225 seats, a recital hall with 100 places, and a large music multimedia center with a recording studio. The existing buildings were linked and a roof extension and green roof was created. On the outside, the impact of the bleak concrete walls was toned down through the spelling out, in giant letters of a verse by Gaston Miron, one of Québec’s major poets. "Je ne suis pas revenu pour revenir, je suis arrivé à ce qui commence." Source: Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page (accessed 8/29/2015) | en_US |
