Raking view where Museum Theatre links to the National Art Gallery; canon used by the British in colonial wars ring the theater; The museum is located in the "Pantheon complex" of arts and public buildings on Pantheon Road in the Egmore neighborhood (and once included a zoo). The present museum complex consists of six buildings and 46 galleries in about 16.25 acres. The present buildings include Connemara Public Library (1896, by Henry Irwin), the Museum Theatre (1896), and the National Art Gallery (1906). The National Art Gallery was built during the celebration of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in Indo-Saracenic style, designed by architect Henry Irwin. It is the second oldest museum in India.
