Description
East facade, looking south; The patron was Dr. H.J. Boevé, who gave Brinkman and van der Vlugt the commission in 1931. It is a detached house in a plot opposite the Museum Boijmans in the then new "villa park" development of Dijkzigt. It is a very compact house with a steel frame, built for 40,000 guilders in six months. The house is raised in the middle of the lot with a small detached garage behind. On the ground floor is the office space, living room, dining room, kitchen and children's room with terrace facing the street. On the 1st floor are the bedrooms of the five sons, the master bedroom and the bathroom. A spiral staircase leads to the top floor with a roof terrace, gym room and two maid's rooms. It is a listed rijksmonument (national monument) and is now an office. Source: Top010 [Rotterdam architecture website]; http://www.nieuws.top010.nl/ (accessed 5/18/2015)
