dc.description | Detail, looking up at "crystal-like volumes" of east facade; Artech Architects was founded by Kris Yao in 1985, and has multiple offices in Taipei and Shanghai. Located in downtown Taipei, the 19-story (244 ft. high) Kelti Center is a complex that houses corporate offices, an event hall (13.5 m high) on the top floor and commercial spaces on the lower levels. Adopting the existing narrow rectangular form from the site with an east-west orientation, the building is set back from the street on the west side, enabling space for a generous open plaza with wide platform stairs. The architects describe it as a "series of crystal-like volumes packed inside a portal frame, leaving gaps of spaces penetrating the building".
