Description
Detail of upper left corner; Painted in Avignon in July - August 1914. The "model" was Eva Gouel, Picasso's companion since 1912. It is a joyful piece; the feather boa is a metaphor for the model, the curve refers to the line of the shoulders. The surface is enlivened by "false" collages of patterned paper, which are actually painted, as well as the painted confetti-like dots and sense of marble, moldings, flowers and ribbons.
