1896Description
Overall view of the first (Paulus Potterstraat 2) of four houses comprising Coster Diamonds; In 1970 the old Coster diamond factory (built 1840) in the Waterlooplein in Amsterdam had to make way for the construction of the town hall (Stopera), forcing Coster Diamonds to move to its current location at Paulus Potterstraat, numbers 2-6 (in the Museumplein area). In 2007 the Diamond Museum Amsterdam was opened at the site (at number 8). The four buildings were all pre-existing 19th century (1896) brick mansions (town houses or villas) in Victorian style, one in a Dutch Revival style with stepped gables.
