Description
Raking view of facade facing the Thames, with wall mural; Run by the Conran Foundation, founded in 1989, it was the first museum in the world devoted exclusively to 20th and 21st century product, industrial, graphic, fashion and architectural design. The building involved a "radical reconstruction" of an undistinguished former 1940s banana warehouse. After the conversion the building resembles the International Modernist style of the 1930s. The museum includes two floors of galleries, a café and shop. It is a private museum operated as a registered charity and not government supported.
