Paved parking areas and roadway; Located along the St. Lawrence river, between the Sillery coast and the Ross coast (towards Quebec’s bridge), the project delicately weaves a sequence of diverse experiences and atmospheres. Designers were able to push the highway further away, and so release an important piece of land. Special attention was given to use of local materials and vegetation on the site. An immense cycle track and a sinuous pedestrian path cross this longitudinal site bringing the user from a cultural pole at one end (Station des Quais), to a sport pole (Station des Sports) at the center and an interpretation pole (Station des Cageux) at the other end. The journey is punctuated by pieces of contemporary art that interact with the landscape and the urban design. The cultural section of the project gathers four contemporary gardens inspired by the mood of the river; the Quai des brumes, the Quai des flots, the Quai des hommes and the Quai des vents. The sport section, at the center, is composed of two soccer fields, big open spaces and a multipurpose track. The last section of the project, looking towards Quebec’s bridge, is set around a rehabilitated industrial quay; this features an observation tower and multi-use and interpretive pavilion.
