Detail, corner facade and signage; Louis Vuitton Malletier, is a French fashion house founded in 1854 by Louis Vuitton (frequently shortened to "LV.") The Hong Kong store is located in the Landmark Atrium. The Landmark, also known as "Central", is one of the oldest and most prominent shopping malls in Hong Kong, positioned between the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and office towers. LV has had a space in the mall since 1982; however they negotiated a prime three story redevelopment at the corner of Pedder Street and Des Voeux Road in 2005. Jun Aoki & Associates are responsible for the facade; Peter Marino Architects did the interior design. The facade uses zigzag profiled louver blades, finished with a mirror surface. The 7000 aluminum, alternately polished, brushed, mirrored and whitewashed, louver blades that form the glass façade underlay were custom designed. It also shows a checkerboard pattern, recalling LV’s “damier pattern.” Source: RFP Magazine; http://www.rfpmagazine.com (accessed 7/19/2013)en_US
