dc.description | Context view from footbridge leading into Tiananmen Square; It is used for legislative and ceremonial activities by the PRC (People's Republic of China) and the Communist Party of China. It functions as the meeting place of the National People's Congress, the Chinese parliament. It was one of the "Ten Great Constructions" completed for the 10th Anniversary of the PRC. It was built in 10 months by volunteers. It contains a State Banquet Hall, large assembly halls and auditoriums, and government offices. The Great Auditorium can seat 10,000.
