Description
White glass area (skylight over interior space) with circular plantings next to sidewalk; The only condition of the design competition was that the building could not be rectangular. It's shape has been compared to a cocoon. It is a 204-metre, 50-story (with 3 additional storeys below ground) educational facility located in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The building is home to three educational institutions: Tokyo Mode Gakuen (fashion vocational school), HAL Tokyo (special technology and design college), and Shuto Ikō (medical college). It is the second-tallest educational building in the world (surpassed only by the main building of the Moscow State University). Each floor of the tower contains three rectangular classrooms that surround an inner elevator, stair and service core. Every three floors, a three-story student lounge is located between the classrooms. Source: Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page (accessed 8/3/2013)
