Description
First level screen, facing the rear for local audience use (seated in the lower concrete level); The Samitaur Tower is an information tower, constructed at the corner of Hayden Avenue and National Boulevard immediately across from the new Expo light rail line arriving from downtown Los Angeles. That intersection is the primary entry point into the re-developed zone of Culver City. The tower was allowed exemption from the 56 ft. height restriction of the neighboring buildings. The screens of the tower enable art and information to be projected to passing motorists and train passengers; ten digital projectors rear-project onto translucent acrylic screens on three levels. There is also exhibit space inside the tower, and performance space at the base. Platforms at multiple levels permit its use as an observation tower.
