Abstract
This book presents the basic principles and relationships of contemporary soil mechanics. It further describes the methods used for calculating the state of stress along the lower surface and beneath foundations of different rigidities under specified external loadings. The numerous tables and graphs inserted in the book make possible its use as a handbook in solving practical problems. The book is intended for design engineers, students, and for laymen wishing to study soil mechanics.
