West 23rd Street (north) facade with stainless steel screens; HL23 to the right; A South African native, Roy is principal of ROY architects in New York City, which she founded in 2000. A 12 floor (plus penthouse) luxury condominium tower one lot over from the old elevated tracks of the High Line (which has been developed as a 1 mile linear pedestrian park). There are north and south glass curtain walls decorated by flat, almost-amoeba-shaped stainless-steel screens that overlap floors. The steel screens, or scrims, are in front of operational glass French doors at every floor (on both facades) and so reference the idea of balconies. HL23, a building by Neil Denari, was later (2011) wedged into the space between Highline 519 and the elevated bed of the High Line park.
