Detail, France embraces two workers who admire the bust of Waldeck-Rousseau; Pierre Marie René Ernest Waldeck-Rousseau (1846-1904) was a French Republican statesman (68th Prime Minister of France) credited with steering a moderate course but securing a decisive victory for republican stability. He was successful in negotiating workers' strikes. The monument portrays the personification of France, embracing two workers who admire the bust of Waldeck-Rousseau within an architectural framework.
