dc.descriptionDetail, main portal; The Hôtel d’Olmières (now Hôtel de Jean de Bernuy) was built by Guillaume and Jean Picart (active ca. 1502-1503) in the traditional way, although the façades in the entrance courtyard, by Louis Privat (active ca. 1516-1530), are Renaissance in style; it was the first private house to have a straight staircase. [Grove] It is representative of the Renaissance domestic style and has one of the highest hexagonal stair towers in the city (26.5 meters). Now known by the name of owner Jean Bernuy, one of the richest merchants of Toulouse, who made ​​his fortune from the trade of 'pastel' (blue dye made from woad).
