Description
View of the huge Shanghai city scale model; The Exhibition Center is a six-story building, with two basement levels, which displays Shanghai's urban planning and development. Exhibitions include models of planned and recent developments, as well as Shanghai's history. The building was designed by architect Ling Benli of the East China Architectural Design & Research Institute (ECADI). The centerpiece of the exhibition is a huge scale model of the city of Shanghai, showing all existing and approved buildings. Visitors can view the model from alongside or ascend to a gallery running around it for views from above. The Center was purpose-built for this exhibit. The grid and membrane roof of the building symbolizes Shanghai’s city flower, the magnolia. Source: Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page (accessed 5/13/2011)
