Description
Exterior view showing private lake dock; The Villa du Lac du Castor, built in 1999 and completed in June 2000, is a private home that offers 250 square meters of living space. The Villa is a wood structure (beams, glulam columns, and solid wood) that rests on a concrete base. The exterior is essentially composed of cedar planks, spruce billets, and glass. The residence was also designed with an integrated home control system. It sits on a private property of over 87 acres with a private lake, at the center of a coniferous and deciduous forest. Around the dwelling, the Villa’s owner has placed several works of art. There are sculptures by Jacques Dansereau and a piece of environmental art donated by architect Pierre Thibault. The Villa has won numerous architecture and interior design awards. Source: Villa du Lac Castor [website]; http://www.villadulacducastor.com/ (accessed 4/22/2011)
