Description
The theater, general view, from the Temple of Dionysus (the god of the theater) (the theater is one of the most impressive monuments in Asia Minor that date from the Hellenistic age. Originally built in the 3C BCE it was altered in Roman times); Under Persian rule 5th cen. BC; prosperous Hellenistic city during rule of Eumenes I & Attalids (282-133 BC); bequeathed by Attalus III to Rome 133 BC; to Byzantines after fall of Rome; passed to Ottomans 14th cen.; ruins a "text" of Hellenistic art.
