Theater, view looking over the Skene (stage building) with the Cavea (semi-circular seating) beyond, with the Acropolis as a backdrop (built in the 4C BCE it still retains much of its Hellenistic characteristics. It seated around 5,000 people); Priene was an ancient Greek city in W Asia Minor; under Roman & Byzantine rule before being subjugated by the Turks in the 13th century.
