Bouleuterion or Council House, a column base (the Boule, elected once a year from the assembly of the Citizens, held its meetings here. It is situated directly behind the Sacred Stoa and was believed to have been built circa 150 BCE); Priene was an ancient Greek city in W Asia Minor; under Roman & Byzantine rule before being subjugated by the Turks in the 13th century.
