dc.description | Close side view, depicting the entry; "This is Holabird and Roche's oldest surviving building in Chicago. Sparse in decoration, its liveliness is based on its window treatments. The massive bays are trimmed with red terra-cotta. This 14-story fireproof riveted steel frame building of dark brown masonry has tile arch floor slabs, ornamental red terra-cotta and a sandstone base. Projecting bays above the second floor level (with 'Chicago Style' windows) run continuously from the third to the thirteenth floor." p. 144 Source: Bach, Ira J.; Chicago on foot; walking tours of Chicago's architecture, 2d ed., Chicago: J.
