View of the Research Facility (demolished 2007); Gehry designed two buildings in the Rockwell Engineering plaza, including the auditorium. The other building, the Research Facility, which was shared by two programs (the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences) was demolished in 2007. Reasons cited were roof leaks and need for more space. The auditorium is still extant. Both buildings had won design awards and were noted for the use of ordinary materials in extraordinary ways.
