Side view, from the southeast; Designated as a National Landmark, 1994. Burnham was a member of the orchestra's board and encouraged efforts to acquire a hall of its own and, as owner of this land, was the logical choice for architect. Behind the Georgian facade is an auditorium, a ballroom at the second level, offices, and the Cliff Dwellers Club. The Hall has been home to the Chicago Symphony for over a century.
