Description
From the Pre-Hispanic Civilization to the Conquest: Disembarkation of the Spanish at Veracruz, detail showing treatment meted out to Indians: hanging and forced labor. Indians being used as oxen, whipped on by the Spanish slave drivers; In Rivera's last years he created a number of murals in Mexico City for public and private buildings. Of these the most notable are the series of frescoes entitled From the Pre-Hispanic Civilization to the Conquest (1945-1951), painted on the walls of the colonnade that surrounds the main courtyard of the Palacio Nacional.
