Half-timbered house, showing typical courtyard; Overview of the historic city of Dijon. Dijon flourished under the Valois 1364-1477; patronage of the ducal court attracted many artists and musicians; was annexed by Louis XI in 1477. Dijon was most prosperous in 18th century when it became intellectual center of France; declined after Revolution; has a 14th century town hall.
