Side view of the the Sala Netzahualcóyotl; Centro Cultural Universitario is a large performing arts and art complex on the Ciudad Universitaria campus. Several buildings offer films, plays, concerts, and temporary art shows, including the Teatro Juan Ruiz de Alarcón; the Foro Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. The first building is the Centro Universitario de Teatro with the adjoining Sala Netzahualcóyotl, a concert hall with excellent acoustics, home of the Orquesta Filarmónica de la UNAM. Acoustical design includes an acoustical canopy over the stage, balcony fascias and an acoustical chamber or moat under the stage which allows the sound to reverberate before being reintroduced through a series of louvers under the first row seats.
