Situated approximately 1 km from the town, this site is accessible is via a road suitable for vehicles.
Dating from the 5 – 4th centuries B.C., these are the ruins of the town of Leo (Orbitania), built by survivors from the city of Sibari which was destroyed by Crotone.
A 5th century B.C. tomb, complete with numerous funeral artifacts and two Campanian - Estruscan urns was discovered in Contrada La Scala.
In the 4th century B.C. the settlement saw a phase of great expansion and numerous ruins, including a votive shrine dating from this period, have been brought to light in the area known as Vauzi. Most houses are built around a central courtyard in the Greek style. | en_US |
