Collection scope and contents:
The collection documents the responsibilities and functions of Paul Gray in his capacity as the chancellor of MIT, during the presidency of Jerome B. Wiesner, from 1971 through 1980. In addition, it includes some records reflecting Paul Gray’s activities as the associate provost, and through 1981, his first year as MIT president. The materials included in this collection provide information about the administrative history of the Institute during the 1970s, the evolution of its academic policies, and the development of its research and educational programs.
