Overall three-quarter view; In Buddhist mythology and Hindu mythology, a kinnara is a paradigmatic lover, a celestial musician, half-human and half-horse (India) or half-bird (southeast Asia). Kinnari is the female form. In Tibet the kinnara is known as the 'shang-shang' which is a play on the word for cymbal, as they are frequently shown playing cymbals. As celestial musicians they symbolize "enlightened activity." Source: Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page (accessed 4/9/2015)
