Detail, aluminum fascia at roof edge; Bank buildings had traditionally resembled Classical temples; Williams re-imagined the temple with a Modernist twist. The small scaled glass pavilion has a base which appears to float and an equally floating roof, cantilevered and supported by thin columns. Anodized aluminum solar screens slide and keep out the bright desert sun while allowing visibility to the street. The Palm Springs Art Museum purchased the building in 2011 to use for “architecture and design exhibitions and programs"; it opened in 2014. It received Class 1 Historic Site protective status. Williams is also the architect of the main Palm Springs Art Museum building. Source: Palm Springs Preservation Foundation; http://www.pspreservationfoundation.org/ (accessed 8/15/2015)en_US
