Detail of facade, applied layer with raised balconies and louvers (brise soleil); Studio Libeskind designed the bold façade of the new Hyundai Development Company headquarters to integrate the building with a public plaza and below-grade spaces, as well as to serve future development on the site. A gigantic, 203 ft. ring, encompassing red and white geometric forms, and an inclined metal vector [like an inclined pylon] has been superimposed on the existing modern office tower, transforming the main façade and plaza areas. The façade has balconies and louvers. "The Tangent is a project that is about the relationship between the ever changing circle of nature and the straight line of technology. In the contact between the circle and the line, one can see the meeting between the wheel and its path." Source: Studio Libeskind [website]; http://libeskind.com/ (accessed 8/19/2015)
